Missoula Fishing Report - June
Clark Fork River, Fishing Report, Missoula, Montana, Rock Creek, Season | Summer
June...that happened fast!
One morning we are waking up on the Missouri River, the next, the Fourth of July is almost here. June absolutely flew by. The Missoula Fishing Report for Rock Creek season was shaping up to be a real tough one with our snowpack levels, but the Creek held on much better than anticipated.
The diurnal up and down of the flows kept us floating longer than we expected. The Salmonflies were plentiful and the fish were happy to eat a dry fly for the three weeks we were up there. Rock Creek Road stayed in great condition for the majority of the month. We're excited about the work and improvements the Forest Service is making this summer.
Overall Rock Creek was a highlight of the season. Beautiful scenery, happy fish, and happy clients in our boats. Thanks to everyone who makes that river so special every year.
Taking the raft off the back of the truck and putting it back on the trailer is a great feeling every year. Getting to explore other rivers in our area again is also fun. We had some great groups in late June and they got fantastic fishing.
Hollie and Chad brought their two sons this year. They are an awesome family and we really enjoy having them in our boats. We look forward to next year guys!
The water dropped fast this month and the easier Rock Creek hero fishing quickly turned into some techy headhunting if you went looking for it. Thankfully we had folks in our boats who were excited about mayflies.
June has come and gone. Water levels are going to be tough this year, but the fishing should hold on for a while if we continue to get some rain.
Have a happy and safe 4th of July.
Give us a call to get on the calendar for the fall or next spring.
